About Me

Long Island, New York, United States
I'm a 20 year who is currently attending college with a major in Computer Engineering. I have been a gamer pretty much my entire life and I am totally OK with that. People always ask me, "Don't you ever get bored of video games?" And my response?, "Absolutely Not." The way I see it, video games is a way I can get away from reality and relax in an environment where no matter what happens, it's not going to change the outcome of my everyday life, at least I hope it won't :). As stated earlier, I have been a gamer pretty much my entire life. But, within the past year, I have thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool to share my gaming experiences with people from all around the world?" Well, that is the premise behind this blog. Within this blog, you will find different pages for the different video games that I am currently playing (PC/Mac Only). Within each games respective page, I will be posting about my thoughts on the game, different updates or patches, and even giving you guys and girls some tips that have helped me in the past with these games. Hopefully you enjoy the content I will provide, and hopefully you will be a long time reader :)

Idea For A New Selling System In FlyFF

Well, as many of you, if not all of you know, FlyFF has the type of item selling system that not many games nowadays run off of, and that is the Private Shop system. In the major cities, and I believe in some other places, you are able to open up a shop and sell items for whatever price you would like for other players to purchase. You can create a helpful title so other players know exactly what you are selling and it makes it easier for your items to sell. Ever since I have played this game, I have always loved this as a way to buy items for great prices. But recently, it hasn't grown onto me as much.

For 1, it takes quite a bit of time to cycle through the 3 main cities and scan every shop manually. I remember back in the day, I used to spend 1-2 hours a day browsing through all the shops to end up not finding what I wanted, or finding it but for a ridiculous price. I feel that this really isn't an efficient way to sell items nowadays, especially since many games have the "Auction House" style for selling goods. It is much cleaner, faster, and more efficient. Not to mention, it gets rid of a TON of lag in major cities since there aren't hundreds of characters trying to sell different things with titles that half the time, make no sense.

So recently, I have been thinking. Maybe it is time that FlyFF to leave the "Private Shop" system behind and jump on the bandwagon and open up the "Auction House" style. I feel that this would be much more helpful to players to find what they want, and for the price they want it, fast and easy. They wouldn't need to spam the chat looking for a certain item, and more importantly, they wouldn't need to waste hours a day looking for that 1 item when they could be leveling. I just feel that it would be a much easier and cleaner way for the game to run and it would make it much more enjoyable.

What are your thoughts? Should the "Private Shop" stay? Should they implement an "Auction House?" Should they combine the 2? Or, should they leave it the way it is and not mess with something that seems to have been working since the beginning?

Let me know :)

  1. Just to be sure, with an Auction House you can store your stuff in a giant bank, give it your price and then other users can search for it? And if they buy it u just get ur money?

    Or am I wrong ? :$

  2. Yup, that's exactly how it would work. Some games have a listing price that you have to pay which ranges depending on how much you want for your item, but that doesn't have to be implemented. I just think with an Auction House, people will be able to sell and buy items much easier than having to manually search through hundreds of shops.

  3. I don't know. Would there be like a max & min price or just free prices?

And even if it's free to chose your price, alle the prices will be quite alike, and that would - imo - kill the unique shopping experience Flyff has to offer.
So I'd say no to the auction house. I know it's sometimes hard to find something and it can be frustrating to buy something and right after that finding it way cheaper in the shop right next to it but that's Flyff...

Personally I like the idea of searching stuff to find something underpriced and make profit out of it.
Also: this way you'll kill the best methode of making money -> Merchanting. In my experience merchanting is only possible here on Flyff, and it would be a real shame to lose it.

Although the auction house has some good things to offer, I'm prefering the system we have now: the good old shops you can set up! :D

  4. Well Chazu. I see your point. But seeing prices that were very similar is something that you still see now. People are usually within 100-200mil with their prices, and when you are spending 6-7bil for an item, that much really doesn't make that much of a difference.

As for merchanting being a huge way for people to make money in FlyFF, i totally agree. But, to be honest, adding an Auction House wouldn't totally kill that. For example, World of Warcraft uses an Auction House, and people are still merchanting in that game in order to make hundreds of thousands of gold every day. There is a much higher amount of skill that is involved with knowing how to profit and merchant correctly when it comes to an Auction House, but it is very, very doable.

    P.S. Thanks for commenting :)

  5. If you're buying stuff for 6/7bil , you're already quite familiar with Flyff. :p

    I wasn't specific enough I quess: Let's take Pick-up Pets for now.
With the box events that contain pick-up pets those prices drop like crazy from 60/70mil ea to 40/45mil ea. As a player with 400mil you can just buy 10pets and wait 2/3months and then sell them again with a 300mil profit.
That would be still possible with an Auction House.

BUT: If you see someone selling an awsome clean GBow for 90mil while it's worth 120mil just because of the original not awaked +3dex & +2dex, you just buy it and sell it with 30mil profit the day itself.
While with an Auction House, people can easily search their stuff - check prices, compare them and they will see that they can sell that Gbow for more then 90mil. And that's why I'm against the Auction House. If you wanna make profit, follow the economy and if you don't - you'll end up like that guy who lost 30mil because of his mistake.

But maybe I just have that opinion because I kinda like checking shops for 1h / day xD
